This week’s banner image was submitted by Byron Cotter. Thanks Byron!

Image Details from Byron:
This photo was taken in Rattlesnake Canyon, part of the Antelope Canyon complex on the Navajo Reservation near Page, Arizona. Equipment used was a Canon 50D with an 11-18 mm Tamron lens set at at 11 mm, f22. A three shot sequence at + 2 stops was processed using Photomatix Pro 3.2 exposure fusion.
We took a full day photo tour through several of the canyons, organized through Carol Bigthumb’s Adventurous Antelope Canyon Photo Tours company and guided by Vernon Tso. For interested parties, Carol’s website is www.aacpth.com. Vernon is a highly knowledgeable photographer in his own right and an excellent guide. Also, for anyone going to Antelope Canyon, we would recommend taking a plastic bag or perhaps better, a “Rainsleeve” to protect equipment from occasional falling sand due to gusts of wind.

This week’s banner image was submitted by Spence Fairbanks. Thanks Spence!

Image details from Spence
This picture was taken on our way back from a wildflower hunting trip to the Boyce Thompson Arboretum on 3/30/2010. I live in Fountain Hills and have often gone out looking for (with no luck I may add) the wild horses that live in the Pima-Maricopa Indian community. This turned out to be our lucky day as they were grazing about 400 feet off of the Beeline Highway south of the canal. Unfortunately is was mid day so the contrast is a little rough, but the horses co-operated in posing for a large number of photo’s. My wife Sue and I could not get over how healthy they all looked! I ended up having to jump up and down, wave my hat and hoot at them to get them to all look up at the same time. I used a Nikon D90, 80-200mm lens at f/9.5, set at 100mm and 1/250sec. If anyone is interested, you can go to the Pima-Maricopa Indian Community web page and fill out adoption papers for these wonderful animals…

This week’s banner image was submitted by Marianne Jensen.

Image details:
I noticed this Coyote at the end of my driveway as I was leaving for an errand. He was rubbing his head along the ground…back and forth…so I thought something was irritating his eyes. I then noticed he had prey and seemed to be marking it with his scent by rubbing the sides of his face on it and rolling around on it. Pretty neat! By the time he noticed me, I was right across from him. He looked up and stood still for just a few moments. Because I always have a camera with me, I was able to get this clear shot!
