Last Light was taken June 2009 in Tel Aviv, Israel, looking out at the Mediterranean at sunset. Activities on the beach in the foreground were wrapping up for the day as the sun hit the horizon. Shot with Nikon D300, ISO 200, 1/125 sec @ f/4.5. 50 mm focal length.

NORWAY-80 degrees North. Aug, 2011. Midnight.
Nikon D7000. 18-200m Nikon lens @18m; Hand held(braced) ISO 200.
Story: At 90 degrees north, all longitude lines converge at the top of the world. This photo was taken at 80 degrees North –further than any city or settlement in the world. This is as dark as it gets and you can see quite clearly.

This week our banner is from your webmaster (me – Marianne). I wasn’t actually next in line BUT our new website theme (did you notice?) just updated and requires a different image size than what I told everyone! The new size is 1000px wide by 288px tall.
